S6 or P6? Choosing a 6-Inch Screw Holding Driver

Two Drivers Because Screw Heads Are Not Interchangeable

The NoDrop 6-inch Combo Set contains the S6 slotted holder and the P6 Phillips holder. Both help retain a compatible fastener during its start or removal; their main difference is the screw head each is designed to engage.

Screw-Head Selection

  • Slotted: Start with S6 — the dedicated slotted model.
  • Combination head with a usable slot: Start with S6 — NoDrop lists combination-head screws for the S-series.
  • Phillips: Start with P6 — the dedicated Phillips model.
  • Small slotted screw: Check fit; S6 is the dedicated option. NoDrop also lists small slotted compatibility for P6, but actual head fit governs.

NoDrop lists the set for screws from #4 through 1/4 inch. That is a published screw-size range, not a promise that every head profile or damaged recess will hold. Test the tips on the actual fastener before working in an awkward position.

How to Use Either Tool

Seat the chosen driver’s metal tips in the screw head. Push the handle forward to engage the holder, then check the grip over a safe surface.

Position the screw and start the first threads without forcing it. When the screw stays in place on its own, press the release rod to reset the holder. Use the appropriate finishing tool for the specified final torque.

For a screw coming out, loosen it using an appropriate driver and use the holder for controlled removal once high torque is no longer required. NoDrop specifically says these tools are for starting and removing, not final tightening or torquing.

Is the Two-Tool Set the Right Purchase?

The 6-inch Combo Set makes sense when your usual fasteners include both slotted/combination and Phillips heads and you have room to work with 6-inch models.

If you also need short versions for restricted handle clearance, the four-driver Technician Set adds the S3 and P3.

If the screw is far back in a deeper opening, compare the 10-inch Screw Holding Screwdriver Set.

Safety and Limits

Neither listing supplies a voltage-rated insulation claim. Follow electrical safe-work procedures and use rated tools where required.

Screw retention does not replace a tool intended for final torque.

Quick Answer: Does the Set Include a Short Driver or Case?

The 6-inch Combo Set listing names S6 and P6. It does not list a short driver or a case.
